With deep experience in the maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) operations space, Deloitte understands the unique challenges these environments pose. We designed the Smart Maintenance and Repair Facility with those challenges in mind, showcasing how Industry 4.0 technologies can be applied specifically in an MRO operations environment.
Deloitte’s Smart Maintenance and Repair Facility—located within The Smart Factory by Deloitte @ Wichita—provides an immersive, hands-on experience that demonstrates the advantages of a tailored MRO solution. Gain valuable insights into the latest MRO trends and Industry 4.0 technologies while our experts identify opportunities to optimize your organization’s MRO operations, leading to increased productivity, performance, and cost savings.
From planning to redeployment, the Smart Maintenance and Repair Facility takes visitors through a representative maintenance process with real-world examples of Industry 4.0 technologies in action, all modeled around a turbofan aircraft engine in a simulated depot-level MRO facility.
Our Smart Maintenance and Repair Facility demonstrates how these Industry 4.0 technology solutions can enhance your MRO operations.
Enables technical data configuration management needed to support MRO operations. It is the single source of truth for the as-allowed configuration, as-maintained configuration, and technical documentation (e.g., repair processes and work instructions).
Tracks parts (e.g., components, subcomponents) on the shop floor and provides visibility to their movement and location within the facility in real time.
Enables manufacturing parts using additive manufacturing (AM) methods (e.g., 3D printing). Enables the manufacturing of complex geometries not possible through traditional manufacturing methods (e.g., casting, forging).
Monitors the condition of industrial equipment (e.g., 3D printer and milling machine) through the use of temperature, current, and vibration sensors to track performance and provides alerts for machine issues.
See-what-I-see: Enables technical experts to see what the MRO worker sees in real time to help address challenges and/or streamline part acceptance testing/disposition.
Guided work instructions: Allows shop floor workers to access step-by-step instructions virtually on the job site to complete maintenance tasks.
Quality inspection: Enables shop floor workers to use augmented reality (AR), computer vision, and artificial intelligence models to identify quality issues after the MRO process is complete prior to reintroduction into service.
Optimizes work in progress (WIP) maintenance jobs by synchronizing various resources (e.g., labor/skills, industrial equipment, material availability).
Reduces supply chain risk by applying advanced analytical techniques to rapidly uncover and illuminate multi-tiered, geographically disaggregated supplier networks and the risks they pose.
Provides approaches to develop a workforce capable of succeeding in a smart MRO operations environment.
